13 Houston Youth Musicians Experience the Performance Opportunity of a Lifetime!

Thirteen young musicians from Houston experienced the performance opportunity of a lifetime this week. As the whole world’s attention was fixed on the inauguration of America’s 45th President, Donald Trump,  The Virtuosi of Houston performed in Washington D.C. for some of the biggest names in Congress, including Senator Marco Rubio, Senator John Cornyn, and U.S. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

In addition to performing at a private reception, the kids played for a candlelit congressional dinner and the Texas Society Black Tie & Boots Gala last night. The young musicians, ranging in age from 11 to 18, were also present at the swearing in of President Trump at our nation’s Capitol.

The organization’s website states that, “The Virtuosi of Houston is a Premier Young Artists Chamber Orchestra. Its goal is the education and development of young talented musicians into true professionals, who would be sought after by the premier Conservatories and who would pursue a musical career as performers, educators and advocates of classical music.”

To have landed these talented kids such an amazing opportunity is truly an accomplishment of the organization’s mission. We are very excited to hear how their performances went, and more about the kid’s participation in these historic events.
